Careers Week took place last week on campus and was a attended by close to 2000 attendees. Events included the Macquarie Graduates Panel, the Start-Up Symposium, Aussie Rules: Job search for international students, and the Graduate Careers Fair.
Here are my main observations from the week:
1/ Students are interested
Over 1000 registrations and 1200 attendees at the main Career Fair. The Volunteers Expo, Start-up Symposium and International Student session had over 500 attendees combined.
2/ Students are professional
They shook hands with aplomb and networked for all they were worth. Students were encouraged to come dressed professionally in a suit or in smart casual dress, do their research, do self-reflection and spruik their resume.
3/ Students are great ambassadors for Macquarie University
All exhibitors commented on the calibre of our students and how wonderful our volunteers were.
Encourage your students to follow up on connections made and if they didn’t make it to Careers Week, more exciting professional development is planned for this year. Bookmark the Careers and Employment page for updates!
